Are single dads really that odd?
I am a totally single dad with a 9 month old daughter. I have been amazed by all the people that are so shocked that I’m doing this on my own. I don’t know what they expect me to do, but everyone acts like they have never seen a man that buys clothes for or bathes his daughter before.

this is awesome to hear and no it is not as uncommon as you think. more and more i see fathers stepping up when mom is bad news or just not ready and taking on the parenting role. it used to be uncommon that is why people are giving you the looks. wait a few years and you will see you are not the only man in this boat. once again major props for taking on this incredible experience.
i think that is good men can do that i now a few that have raised there kid by themselves.i my eyes thats a real man ,makes all those ass hole that cant even pay chilsupport worst.
No I don’t think it is odd, but I get so aggravated when people always go on about how good of a dad my exhusband is because he actually sees the kids more then just every other weekend. HELLO they are still his kids so he should do just as much as I do for them (although he doesnt). But no I do think that is great what you are doing for your daughter. You will be so glad you did because you will have an awesome relationship with her. Way to Go!!!!
I say congrats to you. It is so good to see a man taking care of his kid. I am very proud of you. Others look in amazement because in this day in age it is odd to see a dad doing this. My daughters father went 7 years without seeing her.
And still at age 14 only calls her back when she calls him or once a year on her birthday. I say keep doing what you are doing and to hell with onlookers. Thank you for being a MAN and a FATHER.
Thats because society has let the legal system go way to far in awarding custody to mothers. Fathers usually dont have as much time to be their as much for their children due to having to pay child support and just trying to live on whats left. Mothers on the other hand have support from the government assistance programs to make it possible. Hopefully one day the courts will come to realize that a father can do most everything a mother can do and stop awarding custody based upon gender only and more on who is best fit. People are amazed because the courts make fathers like you rare.
Its really not odd..My ex raised my son and did a wonderful job. Keep youre child first before all women ect never compromise your child for a relationship..its you and her now ..a team. I think its so sad when people bring step parents into the picture who the child didnt get any voice on picking. She should always be daddys # 1 girl.

All I can say is that you are a true MAN!!! There are so many men out there that make babies and run! You are the exception I would say. There are single dad’s out there but very few and far between! You are awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Way To Go. I don’t know many dads that would step up to the plate to be a single father. It’s not odd, just sometimes it is rarely seen. I think its great that you are doing your best for your daughter. She is VERY LUCKY to have you as her father! Keep up the good work.

I think that is great, Alot of men cant even be a every other weekend dad or a dad peroid and to see a man take on full respocibility of a child is awesome. Good luck to you and your daughter.
