wish there was more help for single parent dads?
i am a 37 yr. old single parent with a 8 yr. old boy that i love to pieces but it seems like there is no help for dads like there is for single moms. i recieve no child support and day care takes half my check! I,ve already givin up a lot as for example my commercial driving carrer so i can be at home with my son .

I’m not sure exactly what you mean. I’m a single mom, I don’t get all sorts of help. I’m sure life is hard for you, but it’s just as hard for single moms too. Why don’t you get child support? That has nothing to do with services available to single parents, it’s an agreement between the parents. You should sue you ex for child support if she’s not paying. I had a friend who was dating a single dad. The kid’s mom was on disability, living off of like $950/month, and she was still required to pay $90/month in child support.
Have you looked into what social services you may qualify for? Remember that just because you’re a single parent, doesn’t mean you’re considered a low-income parent. But maybe you could qualify for daycare subsidy.
Remember that while maybe you feel like you had to give up so much for your son, he will thank you in the end. My dad raised my sister and I on his own, in the 1980s, when that was extremely rare; I can’t even begin to express the admiration and love I feel for him, and I know what he gave up for us.
Check w/your state & see how to enforce getting child support.
Why don’t you fight for child support? I would. Unfortunately day care is expensive for everyone…is there anyone who can watch him even one day a week for you to help cut the cost?
