Why are so many Middle Class Family/Single Mothers who are working not getting enough support with DHHR?
I am currently working, single mother of one, and not receiving child support for the past 3 months-I went into the DHHR office to update my son’s WV Chip insurance – and although I am not receiving child support- the only "So called support " I was qualified for was .00 in Food Stamps for the month of December 2007 – I have a 16 year old son – what is .00 in food stamps going to do for me and my son on the holidays. I kindly walked out – but it’s sad that even single parents working full time jobs don’t have the support – because of their guide lines of who is qualified – I say they need to raise the guide lines of monthly income – buying groceries is high everywhere.
P.S. Ms. Oprah if you are ever reading this – Please have minority issues addressed – the NAACP did not help me when I needed them to stand up for my rights!
Thank You

Look who’s in the White House. He’s sending all the money to Iraq and vetoing bills that would help Americans.
food stamp income guidelines are raised every october by the federal government. a family of two can only make about 1400 a month in gross income even after deductions including rent, heat, and any child care expenses. this means that your income, based on their calculations, were about $16 away from the maximum benefit level for a household of two. This is not a minority issue, this is a government issue. it applies to everyone. all income must be calculated in order to receive benefits. at least food stamps increase every year, i know in nj welfare (cash benefits) haven’t been raised since the 80′s. a family of 2 would have to live off of $322 a month.
Because the government cannot replace a father.
