Is there a wage gap between single working moms and dads?
I’m sure someone must have studied this.

Repeating myself a bit but part time male workers earn less per hour than part time female workers. Obviously, I don’t have any info on how many of those are fathers – but it certainly suggests a man looking for part time work will be at a disadvantage compared to a woman in the same position
Edit – don’t know how much this helps (things do seem to be worse for single mothers – but nonethless, not exactly great for single fathers)…
"…single mothers are twice as likely to live below the federal poverty line as single fathers (36 percent versus 18 percent). Thus, there are 3.5 million single mother families in poverty. Even among single parents who work full-time and year-round…single mothers are more than twice as likely to be in poverty as single fathers (12.1 percent versus 5.7 percent).”
Edit – okay – very confusing picture – the UK doesn’t collect statistics on benefits paid to single fathers (how sexist) In Canada single fathers earn $10,000 more than the average male and in Australia, the average single mother receives $397.25 and the average single father receives $352.49 – so around $50 less a week. I think – much more attention needs to paid to collecting reliable statistics concerning single fathers, because the picture is all over the place at the moment
Yes & it’s that reverse discrimination bit where the men get paid less than the women.
They might be..
And by the way "womenpolicy" is obviously a bias website that shouldn’t be taken seriously..
There is a gap between men and women in general–no matter what the situation. What do you think womens lib is about for in this new millenium?
I wouldn’t think so.
But i’ve never studied anything on this, so dont listen to me lol.
