I have only known him for 5 months but I feel like I’ve known him my whole life.. We used to spend almost every night together and see each other as much as we could in the day.. One night he went out with his friend, I wasn’t there, and the two of them got into a bar fight with a group of 10 young adults.. my boyfriend’s friend was knocked unconscious and is in critical condition a month later.. so my man was left to defend himself against 4-5 men.. he pulled out a knife and stabbed a few of them to get them off him and his friend.. he saved his friends life! he was scared and left the scene but turned himself in after the holidays. he has a daughter and is a single parent. he is such a good father.. his baby is so smart and healthy and loves him dearly. he treats me like a queen. it was just a bar fight and stupid decisions were made.. but he does not deserve to be in jail. he is a good person. does anyone know how i can write a letter to the judge? i have no idea where to begin.. I don’t have any experience with dealing with jail and inmates and judges and hearings.. but i love him and i want him back..

I am not going to head to an adoption agency right this moment to go through the adoption process. I just want to do my research so that in a few years when I do want to go, I won’t find any huge surprises for me. I want be a good person and a good father, even if I wasn’t born ‘normal’ and probably won’t be getting married because of it. I still do want children though. So i’ve gotten an adoption book called The Adoption Answer Book, and I am waiting for the book Adoption on your Own, which seems to be the all guidance on single parent adoptions. I just don’t know what else I should be doing to prepare for possible or almost definate hardships, since it will probably be the hardest to adopt for someone like me. Any ideas? Thanks for any and all help.

Erin

it’s tough enough out there in the dating world but I’ve come to a tough conclusion about dating single parents and who to stay away from. Single parents come in all flavors. However not all are equal. The single mother who was walked out on by her husband is a good person to date. they have morals and really didn’t want the relationship to end but had no choice but to be a single parent. What i have a problem with are the single parents who were grown adults and had unprotected sex and just wanted a baby or really don’t care that the baby’s father isn’t in the picture or just decided that they were not the happiest in their marriage and went looking for the grass is greener. The single fathers who had an affair and left their marriage you should stay away from as well. I think that’s why it’s so hard to trust a single parent dating. you don’t know what their motives are or if they’re ok or just careless. agree or disagree?
and to all you single moms out there that it wasn’t really your choice to be a single mom but because he beat you up or left you when you wanted a stable family. I applaud you all.
